Hey guys, RAMADAN KAREEM to everyone.
Hope you all are having a peaceful RAMADAN with your loved ones.
We’ve all been dealing with huge changes to our lives because of the pandemic... And for me it has been a little more challenging as I am still recovering from COVID though I was hoping to get well before EID however it is taking a little longer than I expected. But Allahamdolillah iam doing much better now. And I am really happy to share my first RAMADAN post on the the 18th day of RAMADAN. Though I had lots of plans of making posts dedicated to RAMADAN, I couldn’t do it as I am mostly staying at home and taking it slow because I am still recovering.
Although we had Ramadan in lockdown last year, this Ramadan will probably still feel different compared to the normal Ramadan in both positive and negative ways. On one hand we may have more time to rest and spend with family and on spiritual growth; on the other hand we might feel isolated, exhausted and overwhelmed.
Here are my top tips for getting through Ramadan with lockdown restrictions still in place.
Prepare your living space
Give your home a tidying session and make it look as nice as you can. Since it’s summer time, I would advise adding some whites along with pastels and soft colors to please the eyes. As iam a huge fan of adding plants in my living space, I would advise you to add some of your favourites plants in your house and if possible add some nice pots to increase the beauty of the plants.
Make the month feel extra special with some decorations. If you have fairy lights or candles try arranging those around your room. If you don’t have any decorations, you can make some by writing your favourite quotes and sticking them up.
Get dressed and look fresh
One thing iam constantly doing to cope with the lockdown and covid altogether to feel good is by paying more attention on how I look throughout the day. Whether you believe it or not, but looking fresh and ready throughout the day can make a huge difference on your mental and emotional health and it attracts more positivity. So even if you are at home get dressed in a comfortable way, fix your hair and look good. Don’t just keep wearing pajamas all day. It always feels good when you look in the mirror and see a reflection that is fresh and organized.
THIS IS WHAT HAS WORKED FOR ME.
Set realistic goals
Ramadan is a time where we push ourselves to be the best we can be. Many of us try to pray more, read the Qur’an and increase our charity and good deeds. While Ramadan may give these strange days some sort of welcoming structure and a new focus, it is important not to put too much pressure on ourselves. Think about what your personal goals are and create a realistic to-do list, including plenty of time for rest and things you enjoy as well as spiritual matters. Start with very small goals and build up slowly if you feel like you are able to.
Every year, I typically have a lot of dedication for RAMADAN. I push my limits and fast consistently.. but this year I 've decided not to pressurize myself. The main reason being that I'm still recovering from COVID - 19 and I feel like I should take some rest instead of challenging myself.
Make some time to reconnect your circle.
Well this is something I have been doing myself this month. Reconnecting myself with my school and college friends with whom I was not in touch with for so many years. And trust me, it felt really good to connect with those I have studied and had a wonderful time of my life with before my marriage. I spent hours talking with them, recalling all those moments which was one of the best phases of my life. So you should try this too since you now have plenty of time that you could use to connect with everyone you couldn’t previously due to a busy life.
Be proud of yourself
Be proud of what you’re doing – you’re challenging yourself to be resilient, patient, kind, grateful, forgiving and empathetic to people’s suffering, and that’s incredible!
Celebrate what you manage to achieve this month and don’t worry about what you don’t.
Signing off for now & I hope you enjoyed the article.
